Civil Rights

Civil rights are freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Washington State Constitution as well as the statutes and case law that have evolved from them. Civil rights include for example freedom of religion, freedom to pursue an occupation, freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, freedom to vote, the right to due process, equal protection and many others. These rights have restrictions, but they are fundamental to the legal and social systems of the US.
